What is sacred in our lives is influenced
By many thoughts, beliefs in continuance
Whether it be sacred ground
That you will not walk around
Or animals too holy to feast upon
They are not the only ones
Some consider their body a temple
And revere it as something special
The feelings from deep within our soul
Essences that make up humans as a whole
Sacred songs and sacred chants passed on
Sometimes hummed and sometimes sung
A reminder of life long ago
Now sacred to all who know
The battles, wars, emotional scars
Carried oft’ wailing to the stars
Undoubtedly life itself so special
Something to treasure as celestial
Newborn babes so innocent and pure
Many life struggles they endure
To reach the pinnacle of all that is
Deciding what shall be her or his
Most sacred moment throughout time
That which becomes their internal rhyme
There’s something romantic about candlelight. It makes any dinner special. When my kids were small, I used to dress the table with candles once a week. Candlelight can make macaroni and cheese special! Who knew?
Candlelight is a mood changer. When you walk into a room filled with candles, or a dining room with candles lit, suddenly your relaxed and the cares of the day melt away. Concerns, stress and worry can’t outshine candle light. They are instantly forgotten and you’re in the moment, calm and serene.
Seriously though, who doesn’t enjoy a moment in time made special with candle light? We live such crazy hectic lives that taking time to set a table to make any evening special is warranted and sets the tone with its warm delightful glow.
Special occasions like anniversaries are all the more enjoyable in candle light. Birthdays with candles covering a cake are special. Even when we hit the double digits and one candle suffices (cough cough) the occasion feels happy and festive.
For some a sandwich is not a meal
It holds you over until something real
Others see it as very special
Two pieces of bread on which to nestle
A mighty combo piled so high
A bevy of food stacked on rye
Deli shops will have your mouth water
The aroma hits your nostrils and in you saunter
Choices so delicious and fresh
It’s difficult to know what’s best
Ah tomorrow’s another day
In which to try another entree
For now I consume that so delicious
A mouthful of joy nothing capricious
Heaven captured on bread
Oh and add a little spread.
My day is not quite complete
Without this my exquisite treat.
