FOWC with Fandango: Vapid — Chronicles of an Anglo Swiss

She hated taking the last train in the evening, but there was no choice. The party dragged on into the late hours of the evening. Everyone else lived near, but Joan lived in the next town and it seemed that no-one was travelling in her direction. She was alone on the platform when the train […]

Raise Our Voices, a poem

Beautiful!

Sumyanna Writes

bird-2119874_1920 (2).jpg

Some of us

are the songs,

she says…

the lilting melody

the gentle birdsong

the reverberating pulse

that soothes the inner spaces.

Most of us

are not aware of this,

but still – we sing,

filling the silence

with reassurance

and hope.

Some of us

are the songs,

she says…

and some of us

have not yet learned

to sing.

I Won’t Leave You Alone, a poem

Sumyanna Writes

WomanAlone

I whispered

in the silent moments,

when no one else

was brave to speak

I wanted people to know –

I knew they were there.

Often, in the shadows

they would stand quietly,

hands in their pockets,

head down,

holding their worn,

uncomfortable smile

for fear someone would notice

that they were all alone.

But I had learned somehow –

to be unafraid.

I know the yearning

the desire for kindness

and I know how many times –

I was left empty-handed

wearing a well-worn smile

to hide the tears.

I saw you standing

in the corner

all alone

but I did not allow

the emptiness between us

to swallow us up.

Hand raised,

a rush forward,

“Hello”

 and then . . .

   your

     beautiful

       smile.

Are you a biophiliac? — stbarbebaker

“The eminent biologist E.O. Wilson first called our affinity for the natural world “biophilia,” and the term has stuck.” F. Kaid Benfield. KE. O. Wilson defines biophilia as “the urge to affiliate with other forms of life.” When you think about Jardin du Luxembourg (Luxembourg Garden) in Paris, France, it is amazing to find a […]

Anticipation: Train Ride of Life

Beautifully said!

Piper's Adventures

TrainRiding in the train

excitement in the air

anticipating the journey

living life with a flair

Slight breeze

through the open window

train chugging along

reaching for tomorrow

Trees and wildlife

beauty along the tracks

living in the moment

unable to go back

Always anticipating

hard to enjoy the day

so much life around

worry gets in the way

The train of life

continuously flowing

so many adventures

the sun is glowing

Train slowing down

a sharp turn around the bend

time to reflect

coming toward the end

Life is beautiful

filled with family and friends

learned so much on this ride

living it fully until the end
