Whitney Houston’s “One Moment in Time”

I want one moment in time
When I’m more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I’m racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will feel
I will feel eternity

I’ve lived to be
The very best
I want it all
No time for less
I’ve laid the plans
Now lay the chance
Here in my hands

Lyrics at Google Play Music

For me, it’s the ultimate, that one moment of recognition in which you realized you may not have reached the highest heights according to status, money, fame, but that you took the reins in your hands and became the ultimate “in what’s important your world”. Whether that is saving another’s life, providing a thought provoking question, touching someone’s soul, especially when they are down…whatever it was, that one moment of time changed everything for an eternity. And it does. It’s all up to us!

    • She was brilliant, her voice so perfectly captured the meaning…there isn’t one of her songs I dont end up teary-eyed the instant I hear it.

I know it was such a shame she died young 🙁

      • That is the other thing I can’t wrap my head around. I know she started using drugs to keep her weight down, a lot of models are given them for that reason, then she started singing, and she couldnt let it go. She was hooked.Tragic all the way around. Her voice was mesmerizing. Elvis’ voice was mesmerizing. They have so much – talent to the moon and back, and yet it isn’t enough. What kind of pain were they running from? Or did they just get hooked on the “high”. You’d think sharing their music would be so much more!

      • I remember when the australian actress that sang grease, Olivia Newton John, came to a turning point in her career and I remember thinking, either she goes left or right and left is erotic and insane, right is oblivion, I waited to see what her choice would be, she chose to walk away. I applaud her so much for that. Unlike that snippet that sings “Wrecking Ball” who has succumbed to the suits and made a prostitute of herself for their benefit. Wished she could see that.

      • If I had an extraordinary talent like that, I’d be over the moon! Literally.

      • Sad waste, but it seems to be the way with some artists, so dad about her daughter going the same way too. I hate it when people try and do a Whitney number on these talent shows, although I have given a tone deaf rendition myself once or twice lol

      • Haha, tone deaf. I’ve seen a couple that could do the song justice. One was on Holland the voice, she was remarkable even as beautiful as Whitney, think it was last year. Stunning performance

      • What I mentioned to Sarah was the tip of the iceburg. Don’t know if you can handle hearing it…first time I’ve spoken it aloud was to Sarah.. but I was nearly killed 3 times, hung, smothered poisoned beaten sexually abused for years as a child, then when that was done my mother tried to give me away, didn’t want me, didnt wnat any of us but me in particular. so I lived without a safety net of any kind. I’ve made sure that didn’t happen to my kids. They knew I was there, always!

      • So sorry my love, I’ve worked with those who have been abused for the last twenty years, mostly kids but sadly I’m used to hearing stories. It’s so good that you could change the future for your children and get something from their happiness. You’re special you know, they are very lucky. It’s funny I’ve met a lot of survivors through blogging, we seem drawn to each other, maybe through my work and understanding maybe it’s just meant to be 💜

      • That’s part of what I remember, there’s more, but it must be worse cause it doesn’t come.. and it wasn’t just one person, it was many…so I created 100’s of people and would disappear constantly. Fortunately or not, I have an incredible mind, very smart, above average I’m told, so that saved me I guess. I wished I’d been able to take advantage of my smarts to learn something special.. I was above par at many things, photography, painting, learning, but never managed a degree of any sort. That would have been wonderful I think. Now I write, and that’s a important to me as gold

      • Thank you Liza. To say it was hard found would be an understatement. Still, I have to say I love life and rarely take anything for granted, especially beauty, it’s why I love your photography and others so much. It’s a promise of a kind and uplifts the spirit 10 fold. Never underestimate the power of what you have shared, it’s greatly valued!
