A martyr dies for their beliefs

Perhaps somewhere upon the streets

Of discontent and suffering

And though it be quite puzzling

To those who do not understand

The cause for which they firmly stand

Their motive be a righteous one

Without a weapon or a gun

They call attention to their cause

Quietly without applause

Their thought process above the rest

Thereby through their death attest

You are a martyr to the followers

Who agree, already admirerers

While others believe you are insane

They never understand the pain

Or the belief that would you move

To suffer and thereby prove

Attention brought will underscore

That which you would be a martyr for
